The idea behind upgrading your PSP memory is to give you more storage space for game data and that can really enhance your playing experience. If you listen to a lot of music on your system then you might want to get a pretty big memory card. The fact is that you’re going to run into a lot of different brands, but you’ll also find different sizes, so it’ll be overwhelming. There are a probably a hundred of these on the market and I’m just going to talk to you straight about it.
How big should my PSP memory card be? Size is quite a difficult thing to measure. I’m a very computer oriented person, so I understand what 2GBs mean. When I talk to other people they want to know how many songs they can use or how much game information can be stored. I’m just going to stay away from exact numbers on what you could put on some flash memory. Everything comes down to what you’re planning to do. You’ll need a different size if you plan to play games and music.
If you’re just going to play your games on your PSP then you don’t have to go overboard with the memory. 1 or 2 GBs are completely doable for you. It will hold all your PSP games and things like that. But if you’re planning on listening to music, videos and playing your games you’ll have to go much bigger. I would try to get 4 to 8 GB PSP memory card. This would be the best choice in that case since music and videos will take up a lot of space. Plus having a large stick of memory will be useful when newer games come out.
What is a trusted PSP memory brand? Well, the best one that I can put my trust into is Sony. PSP is made by Sony, so obviously the type of memory cards they produce will be the best. You have to remember that you don’t just want regular memory. You need a PRO DUO card. The good thing about this is that Sony sells memory cards that will work directly with your PSP and are designed to be used with it. I guess my advice in this case is to stick with Sony memory when you’re using a Sony product.
How much is a PSP memory card? The prices will greatly vary when you actually start searching. The good news is that everything is relatively cheap. An 8GB cheap PSP memory card that Sony makes will cost you about $25-35. That isn’t very much to get a very big PSP memory stick (the largest is 16GB). A 4GB memory card from Sony will go for about $18-20.
If you actually get away from the Sony brand and try to find a different kind of Pro Duo card you’ll see the prices change greatly. A 4GB SanDisk (that is Pro Duo) will cost you about $12. It is a cheaper stick of memory, but you have to make sure that you get the right kind.
Where do I buy PSP memory cards? There are a number of places to start looking for this type of item. Any type of electronics store will carry them. If you go to a larger department store you should able to talk with someone that can help you find the exact type of memory. Or you can order them online. There are many big retailers online that are selling this type of memory and I personally prefer this way because I can browse dozens of cards by price and see which is going to be best for me.
